The fine strainer is used for basic juicing. The course strainer is used for making thicker drinks such as smoothies or even sorbets.
All parts, except for the Power Base, can be washed by hand with mild detergents, or cleaned in the dishwasher – top rack only.
We recommend removing any seeds, pits, cores or inedible rinds before juicing your fruits and vegetables. For best results, cut your ingredients into pieces small enough to fit comfortably inside the chute before juicing.
Traditional blenders and juicers utilize motors with high RPMs and stainless steel blades to turn solid fruits and vegetables into juice and smoothies. Unfortunately, the high speed rate at which these machines operate generates heat, which can destroy the Vitamin C within the food. Heat, metal and oxygen can very easily break down and destroy healthy nutrients, including Vitamin C.
Slow juicers, such as the NuWave Nutri-Master Slow Juicer, use low RPM motors and non-metal blades to minimize heat within the chamber, preserving more vitamins while still producing plenty of healthy juice.
By juicing fruits and vegetables, you are still able to consume the healthy nutrients, but the indigestible fiber is removed, making these nutrients easier to absorb. For example, when eating a raw carrot, only 1% of the beta-carotene can normally be absorbed. But by juicing the same carrot, you can absorb nearly 100% of the beta-carotene. Additionally, while solid foods can take hours to be fully digested and absorbed, juice can be assimilated in as little as 15 minutes. Because your body doesn’t have to work through the tough fiber to get to the nutrition in the food, you can reap the benefits of your healthy diet much faster by juicing than by eating your food raw.
Ideally, you should drink your freshly made juice right after extraction in order to maximize the benefits from the nutrients inside. By waiting to consume your juice, you’re allowing oxidation to affect the juice, potentially affecting the nutritional content. So you may store your excess juice in the refrigerator, but by doing so, you run the risk of oxidation destroying some of the healthy nutrients.
Leftover pulp from juicing can be used as compost in your garden. Alternatively, pulp can even be used for baking! There are several recipes in the NuWave Nutri-Master Slow Juicer Owner’s Manual that utilize pulp as an ingredient.
